He thought that it made the poor peopled poorer, while it greatly benefited the rich in the nation. He said that if it was to be ridden away, then big business owners and their workers would be put on more similar grounds. He thought Gold was a symbol for Rockefeller type people, big ruthless overly powerful men, and he thought should be done is that they get ride of that culture. Nobody had previously lived by a gold standard so he thought it was ridiculous. Also the little guys have strength in numbers so it would be feasible to overpower big business owners, and decide what standard capitol is to be backed up with. He wanted the common mans opinion to be heard.

Workers were angry with big businesses and the existing parties, and wanting to show the cruelty of industrialization, they formed the populist party. Many workers were abused as they received very low wages at very long hours in unsafe conditions. The main goal of the populist party was to elect people that would progressively give workers the rights that they deserved, including better hours wages and conditions. They also wanted more governmental control of stuff like railroads, elections that were run with less corruption, taxes that benefit the little guys, and a control on the gold that benefits the rich disproportionately. they were sick and tired of big business men and elites taking a much larger percentage of wealth, when they thought they were working way to hard themselves.

The Dawes severity act of 1887 was selfishly enacted in order for white people to take the properties belonging to native Americans. The native peoples, were completely stripped of their lands, and were migrated to reservations previously established for them. Each Native American was given a specific amount of property, and the head of the families would take the largest share. If a native American didn't get a place on a reservation, he would be free to move wherever they wanted. the act ended up with native Americans on reservations having their own establishments eventually, however  the first five years the government held control of the land

When cuba was at war America tried to stay neutral, however in march 1898 the US asked spain to stop fighting and make peace with cuba. On April 11, Mckinley told the people that the war needed to end in cuba. He began by saying that the war was among the many in the country against their oppressor of spain, and that the US tried to stay out of it, but the nature of Sapin made us feel for the cubans. The US trade took a bad turn due to the war, and alot of capital was lost. Becasue neither spain or the cubans had definitively won, the war was going to end only if somebody gave up. Mckinley sated he could either make a rational compromise between the two, or help one part win. McKinley's plan was each side needed to end the barbarities, killing, starving, and torture, the US people there would be helped, and that the US would have to intervene if its trade were hurt even worse, and lastly they would consider a semi-war against spain. Since "maine" had already been sunk, it gave the US the decision to go against cuba. So Mckinley told congress to let the Us go in and restore the gov. and send supplies to citizens

Carnegie

sorry i thought this was a
1.Andrew Carnegie was one of the most successful Robber barons to have ever lived, due to steel and railways.
2. In recent times there has grown a new gradient between rich and poor.
3. This change seems very bad, but essential for natural human progress and innovation.
4. With the wealth now in the hands of very few, it raises questions as to where the rest is to go, and people should seek out financial competence.
5. Money can be left to families, bequeathed, or it can be invested properly, where leaving money to the family is a very bad choice.
6. Bequeathing it to public use, is also bad because it will generally be wasted.
  7. People often save up money that they never use, which is why the state should tax that money after their deaths so it can be put to use.
8. This policy is useful in making people want to invest during their lives.
9. Spending money during life for rich people, can help the poor greatly and shift wealth out equally.

10. The man of wealth is first to acquire money in a respectable manor and be very responsible with how he manages it, but it is important that any surplus money he has he give back to the community in one way or another, in order to help out the less fortunate.

On January 1, 1863, Lincoln issued the emancipation proclamation which freed all the slaves in the USA, including the confederate states. The army and the federal government were required to recognize and maintain the freedom of slaves, and were not permitted to repress them. Lincoln couldnt actually outlaw slavery, or make the freedmen citizens of the US. He also said that he wouldnt suppress the rebellion in the south as commander in chief. He wanted the freedmen to not engage in any violence, except self-defense.

In the begining he says there is not much news, and that the progress of the war is already public info. He states that his first adress was for saving the nation without war, but now war has come because the south would rather make war than save the nation, and the north would accept war rather than let the nation die. He then says that slavery led to the war, and that the war to date has surpassed the expectations for both sides. He contemplates how each side has prayed to god for assistance. Also how he thinks that the lord has his own plan for the exact justice for the hundreds of years of bondage that the slaves have been made to suffer. He finishes with the resolution to complete the war, rapair the US, care for the injured, and to widows and orphans, and "...do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace..."

Before, the court had favored a more moderate decsion that favored Sanford, but didn't address the overall missouri compromise. Justice Nelson was picked to write the decision, however no one agreed with his views. Therefore, Roger Taney was chosen to write the majority opinion of the court that included black citizenship and the constitutionality of the missouri compromise. James Buchanan contacted several other members of the court for the decision reached by the court to include in his inaugural address. In the speech he supported the decision of the court. Taney presented the opinion in the basement of the US capitol. He started by questioning the black citizenship of both slaves and freemen. Taney believed that even free blacks were not citizens of the US, and do not have the power to sue. He also believed to citizens are allowed to bring their property into a territory in the US. He proclaimed the Missouri Compromise unconstitutional because it prevented the citizens of holding property. Finally, Taney that the status of slaves who escaped to free states returned to the place in which they resided, and therefore Scott was still a slave as he had resided in Missouri.

Lincolns inaugural adress

Abraham Lincoln begins his speech by reminding the crowd that it had not been too long since the begining of the United States of America which was based on ideals of freedom and liberty. He then went on to explain how the Civil War is going to test to see if the US could withstand a war between their own citizens. He also says that he doesn't want to end slavery, he just wants to keep it isolated i designated states. He also mentions that he wants to make the US a nationalistic country as it used to be, and also that he wants to protect states rights. His main goal was to keep the union united and equal. He closes that his speech by saying that any man that dies for his country would not be dying in vain, but for their country.

Lincoln was trying to be a centrist, just trying to accomplish
stuff by compromising with the other side. Clinton was a democrat
but he acted fairly conservative, to appeal to a wider range of people.
