William Jennings Bryan was under the impression that gold had many negative consequences when used in the manor that it was started to be instituted in America. He thought that it made the poor peopled poorer, while it greatly benefited the rich in the nation. He said that if it was to be ridden away, then big business owners and their workers would be put on more similar grounds. He thought Gold was a symbol for Rockefeller type people, big ruthless overly powerful men, and he thought should be done is that they get ride of that culture. Nobody had previously lived by a gold standard so he thought it was ridiculous. Also the little guys have strength in numbers so it would be feasible to overpower big business owners, and decide what standard capitol is to be backed up with. He wanted the common mans opinion to be heard. |
